Kosher Certification for Texas and The Southwest

Kashruth - the Jewish dietary laws - is an important part of Jewish life.

The Vaad Hakashrus of Dallas, Inc. dba Dallas Kosher or DK is the Dallas Metroplex Community's non-profit organization to promote Kashruth locally. It supervises local bakeries, markets, caterers, delis, restaurants, etc. to insure that kosher food is available for people like you and me
The Vaad assists area families in learning about Kashruth and in making their homes kosher, and our professionals speak to many groups such as our Jewish day schools, religious schools and adult education classes.
The Voice is our newsletter to the community. In addition to our special Passover edition, The Voice includes helpful hints on school lunches, information on new products that can be added to lunch menus, and ideas for refreshments for meetings and other community gatherings.

Our organization is governed by a lay Board of Directors whose members come from Orthodox, Conservative and Reform congregations, and our members range from those for whom Kashruth is a way of life to those who want to insure the availability of kosher food for everyone in the community. While each of us may be at different levels of observance, the DK sets the community standard in Dallas that is inclusive of everyone and with which all can be comfortable. In order to serve the community, we employ three professionals: Rabbi Sholey Klein and Rabbi David Shawel who have responsibility for kashruth supervision and certification and education and Executive Director, Jeri Finkelstein, who has responsibility for vendor relations, community relations, liaison between members and vendors, and business/fiscal matters.

The Vaad is supported by the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas and many area Congregations and by families and individuals like you. Your support, both financially through dues and publicly as a member, is a positive expression of our community's commitment to Kashruth, Torah and Jewish continuity.

Your membership will insure our continued success!
